What is your job? What do you do day-to-day?
My everyday work as a Data Analyst can be varied, ranging from meetings with stakeholders, showcasing our projects and iteration management.
What's your story/background?
My initial degree was a Bachelor of Pharmacy from the University of Auckland, where I planned to work as a pharmacist. After working for three years as a registered pharmacist in a community pharmacy, I left my work in search of a career I am truly passionate about. I enjoyed statistics and embarking on this new study career gave me the awesome opportunity to join the Suncorp family!
What’s it like working at Suncorp?

What's the best thing about your job?
Diversity of work in the Chief Data Office (CDO)would be the most enjoyable aspect of my job. My work engages heavily with both the technical and people side of things, which I value greatly. To be honest, there is no ‘one best thing’ but a lot of best things about my work! Another highlight of my journey so far is getting to travel to Brisbane for a training, where I built strong rapport with colleagues and had heaps of fun! Keep up the fantastic work graduate team, you have been superb!
What has been challenging?
The most challenging aspect would be the initial few weeks of embarking on my graduate program. There were so many acronyms! But not to worry, you pick up these things over time.
Why were you interested in working in the Chief Data Office?
I am passionate about using data to change the way we do things, and the opportunity to work in the Chief Data Office gives me all the resources I need to embark on this journey.
What has given you the biggest sense of achievement?
I have been engaged in a lot of high profile projects on topics such as; customers, catastrophic events, business metrics and many more. Of these, the most satisfying would be the customer modelling work I have done. This was the most challenging as well as had the highest value in transforming the way we engage our customers.
What are the most surprising aspects of your role?
The most fantastic surprise of my current role is that I have become the social coordinator for the CDO team. I love to get the team to celebrate our success and build up team camaraderie. It has been fulfilling to be the go-to person for all things social!

The Suncorp graduate program has been the supporting backbone of my new career. The grad program supported my leap from a graduate to my current role as a Data Analyst. I have just finished my grad program and will be working in the Chief Data Office NZ where my passion lies!
