​With travel in Queensland declared ‘good to go’, members of Suncorp’s leadership team seized the opportunity to travel to far North Queensland to meet with the local business community and key broker partners.

Supporting our broker partners in the North

Suncorp Group CEO Steve Johnston joined Darren O’Connell, EGM Commercial and Intermediated, Anthony Pagano, Head of Commercial Intermediaries and local BDM Lachlan Bailey in Cairns and Townsville, where they provided an update on the Vero Commercial strategy and addressed the issues top of mind for the local insurance market.  

Across the two days, the discussions ranged from insurance affordability and market conditions in north Queensland, investment plans to improve the digital platform experience for our brokers, enhancements to our OneTouch claims proposition as well as addressing first hand Suncorp’s decision to exit the Vero Consumer and Construction portfolios .  

“We completely understand the impact these critical decisions can have on our brokers and their clients, and we believe sessions like these are a great way to have an open and honest discussion about the opportunities and challenges we all see for our businesses and the broader insurance sector,” said Mr Pagano.

Vero is a strong national brand, and the decision to move away from the consumer and construction portfolios enables us to simplify our portfolio suite and focus on the products and services that will better support our core commercial offering to the market.

Far North Queensland was Vero’s first stop on its national tour where the leadership team will visit key regions to discuss similar matters.
