GIO becomes a proud sponsor of NSW Rugby League

GIO today announced a major sponsorship deal to support Rugby League in New South Wales.

GIO Executive Manager Grant Taylor said as a proud member of the NSW community for the past 86 years, the sponsorship is a perfect fit for GIO.

“There is no more popular sport in NSW than Rugby League, particularly among the families that GIO aims to support and protect,” he said.

“This sponsorship is an exciting opportunity for GIO to support NSW Rugby League at both the grass roots and representative level.”

GIO’s new partnership with the National Rugby League includes major sponsorship of the NSW State of Origin team, NSW Under 20’s State of Origin, NSW City Origin and the Schoolboy’s competition.

NSWRL Chairman, Mr John Chalk said:

“We are honoured to have a company like GIO join our corporate family.

“Their sponsorship encompasses all levels of Rugby League from schoolboys right through to the elite level of State of Origin.

“Partnerships like this one will help further strengthen Rugby League’s place as the premier sporting code in the state of New South Wales.”

As part of the sponsorship the NSW City Origin team is now called the GIO City Origin team, the GIO logo will appear on the shorts of the NSW Blues Origin team, Toyota Under 20s NSW Origin team jersey and the Schoolboy’s Cup will become the GIO Cup.

“Rugby League is an important part of the community and enjoyed by families across the state, which is why we are proud to take up this sponsorship,” Mr Taylor said.
