The community partnership program between Suncorp’s over 50s insurance brand Apia and Heart Foundation Walking is now available from Apia stores across the country.
‘Steppin Out’, which started in February 2018, recently expanded to include 14 sites reaching more than 300 registered members across Australia.
“As a brand, Apia focuses on helping people over 50 live their lives by offering solutions to meet their needs as they age,” said Apia Business Development Manager and program lead, Sara Smith.
“By bringing people together for a walk and a chat we can help keep them mentally and physically healthy and connect with residents to promote overall health and wellbeing.
“As well as regular, group walks, the program helps build an understanding of the local communities in which we operate so we can provide them better experiences and help strengthen the connections between customers,” Ms Smith said.
The program now includes Coffs Harbour and Ballarat, helping improve the lives of even more participating Apia customers in more places.
“The past 12 months has demonstrated the huge impact such a simple activity can have on peoples’ lives, with walkers sharing how getting out again has given them purpose and the opportunity to connect,” Ms Smith said.
