Suncorp is on standby to support customers who may be impacted by the intense rainfall and flooding in North and Far North Queensland.
The tropical low is causing heavy, locally intense rainfall that is expected to continue over coming days.
Executive General Manager Home Claims Customers Alli Smith said Suncorp’s disaster response team was closely monitoring the weather system and had its Mobile Disaster Response Hubs, customer support teams, assessors and builders ready to deploy.
“We are keeping a close eye on the unfolding extreme weather situation through our Disaster Management Centre in Brisbane,” Ms Smith said.
“Customers in high-risk areas have been sent personalised SMS messages with preparation advice, helpful links to recourses and emergency support. We have also started proactively calling customers in impacted areas to offer support.
“Our new Mobile Disaster Response Hub is on standby to deploy to the region to give our customers a place to meet face to face with our team and get their claim process started.”

Ms Smith said community safety was a priority as the weather event was still unfolding.
“Right now, safety is our number one priority, and we ask everyone to listen to emergency warnings and advice,” she said.
“Impacted customers can easily lodge their claims online, and our claims contact centres are available 24/7 to provide support.
“Customers don’t need to be at home or have a copy of their policy to lodge your claim – we will have their details. The sooner an impacted customer contacts us, the sooner we can start the recovery process.”
Once a claim is lodged, Suncorp can arrange temporary accommodation, make emergency payments and help arrange emergency repairs if needed.
If your home is damaged and you can safely access, you don’t need to wait for an insurance assessor to come to begin cleaning up. Some clean up tips include:
- Keep your home as ventilated as possible.
- Remove wet contents (carpets, curtains etc) but take photos.
- Make a list and take photos of damaged items, including model numbers, to help us replace them.
