Suncorp helping customers impacted by SEQ flash flooding

Suncorp Group’s Executive General Manager of Home Claims Customers, Alli Smith said Suncorp was assisting impacted customers as the clean-up begins.

“We are able to begin assessments today and our assessors will be out and about on the ground this week including in the hardest hit areas like Brisbane’s north,” Mrs Smith said.

“In the meantime, our claims teams are making proactive welfare calls to impacted customers, sending emails and SMSs with information on what to do and our claims contact centres are available 24/7 to make sure our customers have the support they need.

“Once you lodge a claim our team is able to arrange temporary accommodation, make emergency payments if needed and help arrange emergency repairs.”

Mrs Smith said if customers had not yet contacted their insurer, they should do so as soon as it was safe to do so.

“The sooner you contact us, the sooner we can help support you and start the recovery process,” she said.

“You can lodge your claim online for any of our brands including Suncorp Insurance, AAMI, Apia and Shannons. You don’t need a copy of your policy, we will have your details.

“Customers who can safely access their home and identify damage don’t need to wait for an assessor to come to your home to begin cleaning up.

“If you have damaged goods or contents, make a list and take photos of them.

“Keep a record of model or serial numbers of items you are throwing away to help replace them.

“Keep your home as ventilated as possible and remove wet contents including carpets and curtains – but remember to take lots of photos.

“It’s been a relentless few months of severe weather particularly in Queensland with two cyclones, dangerous storms and flash flooding, but I want to assure our customers that no matter where disaster strikes, we will be there to support them through it.”
