AAMI has proudly supported the NDIS-registered disability service What Ability since 2022, backing its mission to create meaningful and enjoyable experiences for people living with a disability.
What Ability connects participants with professional and semi-professional athletes who are trained support workers.
By combining sporting skills with care and compassion, the team delivers unique, high-energy experiences that bring variety and excitement to everyday life.
On Sunday, AAMI Park in Melbourne was transformed into an inclusive playing field.
With exclusive access to the stadium, participants threw frisbees, danced it out at a silent disco and enjoyed a BBQ lunch.
Athletes from a range of sporting codes also joined the day, helping create an atmosphere that was both inspiring and welcoming.
The event highlighted the important role What Ability plays in the community and reinforced how powerful inclusive experiences can be when barriers are removed.
Executive Manager Sponsorships and Community Jenny Hutchison said the partnership continues to reflect AAMI’s commitment to backing communities in meaningful ways.
“AAMI has a proud history of supporting community programs and initiatives that champion inclusion and positive change,” she said.
What Ability Founder Steve Dresler said the scale and energy of the day showed how far the event has come.
“What started off as a small event has grown into a stadium experience that showcases inclusion on a much bigger stage,” Steve said.
“Hosting the event at AAMI Park over the last four years has provided an opportunity to create a truly memorable experience for our attendees and their families, aligning with What Ability’s goal to demonstrate that creating environments where everyone feels welcome is both achievable and impactful.”
A number of AAMI team members from across the business also volunteered on the day, supporting activities and spending time with participants – reinforcing the spirit of inclusion that sits at the heart of the partnership.
Cheryl from the Customer Insights team was one of the many volunteers.
