The 2026 Suncorp Graduate Program has officially kicked off, with the current cohort already onboarded in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth and Auckland.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of the program’s inception, one that has seen hundreds of graduates hired at Suncorp since that time.
The organisation received over 10,000 applications, with 46 being selected for graduate positions and 28 for intern roles.
Suncorp’s Graduate Talent Lead, Kelly Pfeffer, has worked on the program for over a decade to ensure it continued to meet the evolving needs of the business and the next generation of talent.
“The focus for our 2026 cohort is to develop several broad skills with a view to moving into specialist roles across the business,” Ms Pfeffer said.
Suncorp once again recognised as a Top Graduate Employer
The popularity and success of Suncorp’s Graduate Program has continued to be recognised across the industry.
At this year’s Seek Grad Top 100 Future Leaders Awards, Suncorp was named a Top Graduate Employer in the following rankings:
- #7 in the Most Popular Banking, Finance & Insurance Employer Award, and top ranked pure-play insurer in the Top 100 Graduate Employers listing.
- #20 in the Most Popular Graduate Employer Award.
To support its talent recruitment strategy, Suncorp also sponsored the Suncorp Technology Award in the SEEK Grad Top 100 Future Leaders Awards, with the winner announced in Sydney recently.
“The sponsorship of this award is a great opportunity for us to meet some top talent and stand out from our competitors in the market,” Ms Pfeffer said.
“We offer a lot of opportunities for software engineering and cyber security graduates within the technology teams, but also for non-technical degrees in business analysis and project roles.”
Meet risk graduate Bree
Bree completed a Bachelor of Economics and Science at the University of Queensland prior to joining Suncorp as one of the 2025 graduates.
After finishing her degree, Bree was focused on finding a role that matched both her interests and values, which is when she discovered the Suncorp Graduate Risk Program and decided to apply.
“For the Risk Program we did one on one interviews and everyone was lovely – there was a current grad who was part of the interview, and it was great to be able to ask them questions about their experiences,” Bree said.
“Not a lot of other organisations do that.”
Bree was successful in her application and since then has completed three rotations in different teams, including Customer Advocacy and Government & Public Policy.
“I get to build my network, learn from different types of leaders, experience a variety of structures and meeting styles as well as build my knowledge on a range of day-to-day work,” she said.
She’s also been appreciative of the consistent support she’s received throughout the program, including one on one sessions with a Graduate Program leader overseeing her learning journey throughout the entire two-year program.
One memorable experience for Bree during the program so far was visiting Parliament House in Canberra for Suncorp’s “Big Day Out”.
It was a set of three events held over two days which included a Natural Hazard Public Policy Roundtable, a networking function held in the Federal Speaker’s courtyard, and a showcase of one of Suncorp's mobile disaster response hubs.
“Having invested a lot of time planning and developing the events, it was very rewarding to have them turn out to be a success among the attendees, including ministers, senators, MPs, councillors and industry stakeholders,” Bree said.
A big part of what’s made Bree’s experiences at Suncorp fulfilling are the people she’s had the opportunity to work with.
“Suncorp’s people and culture is what makes it stand out from other organisations,” she said.
“The Executive Leadership Team along with everyone else is constantly seeking to improve the employee experience, which is so important for workplace satisfaction.”
