The donation, which follows an earlier $40,000 donation to emergency services in NSW and Queensland, will help Red Cross provide care to people who have been affected by the recent fires which destroyed hundreds of properties and ensure the organisation’s trained personnel are ready to respond.
Head of Emergency Services at Australian Red Cross Andrew Coghlan said their role was to ensure that people impacted by these fires had somewhere safe to go and someone to stand with them.
“We work in evacuation centres, provide psychological first aid, help people make contact with their loved ones, and we support them as they recover and make future plans,” Mr Coghlan said.
Suncorp Insurance CEO Gary Dransfield said our thoughts continue to be with the communities that have been left devastated.
We will continue to be there for as long as it takes for these communities to rebuild

“Summer has barely begun and already we’ve seen bushfires and hailstorms across the eastern states. Now is the time for everyone to prepare their homes and properties, and ensure they have their emergency plans in place.”
Suncorp is also double matching any donations that its employees make to support bushfire-affected communities.
