As regions across Australia face one of the worst droughts in history, Suncorp, in partnership with nib, has strengthened its support for impacted customers, waiving premiums for eligible Suncorp, AAMI and Apia health insurance customers.
From 1 September until 31 December 2018, eligible customers with an existing Suncorp, AAMI or Apia health insurance policy can apply to receive six months of free health insurance for them and their families.
Suncorp CEO Customer Marketplace, Pip Marlow, said it was important to rally behind struggling farming communities as they face some of the worst conditions in decades.
“The drought is having a devastating effect on many regional communities. We want to ensure our customers have access to the support and services they need to protect their health and wellbeing, and help them get through this tough time,” Ms Marlow said.
“We encourage any of our customers facing financial pressures as a result of the drought to contact us as soon possible. We’re here to support you through this.”
The announcement forms part of Suncorp’s ongoing commitment to regional communities through dollar-matching for employee fundraising and flexible finance options for agribusiness customers impacted by drought.
The health insurance premium relief package will be available to existing customers who are currently receiving the Federal Government’s Farm Household Allowance and who live in a drought-declared area. Members who have had to cancel or downgrade their private health insurance since 1 June 2018 due to the financial impact of the drought will also be eligible for assistance.
Customers can apply via phone (Apia: 13 11 50, AAMI: 13 22 44, Suncorp: 13 11 55), online (nib.com.au/droughtrelief) or by email (droughtrelief@nib.com.au)
