Suncorp’s Graduate Program has given me first-hand exposure of how Suncorp places so much value in its culture, its customers and its people. Offering grads the opportunity to rotate into different areas of the business was what initially attracted me to the Program.
It meant I was able to explore where I would best fit and would allow me to gain a diverse range of experiences across the industry. Leaving university with both a marketing and an information systems degree, I didn’t know exactly where I wanted to go; the program offered the flexibility I was looking for.
Currently positioned in the Customer Advocacy space, it has been enriching working in an area that champions the voice of the customer. Bridging Complaints and Customer Vulnerability, my team focuses on making a real difference to our customers, and ensuring we deliver fair and ethical outcomes.
Over the last few months, my key area of focus has consisted of working on various projects around Customer Vulnerability, to increase engagement, interest and understanding of Customer Vulnerability across Suncorp New Zealand employees.
The biggest thing that stands out for me is the trust Suncorp places in its graduates and how we are given the opportunity to work on real projects. The program has changed my perspective on what the workforce looks like for graduates right out of university.
The biggest thing that stands out for me is the trust Suncorp places in its graduates and how we are given the opportunity to work on real projects. They recognise we are new in the workforce and encourage us to push ourselves, to reach our full potential.
Coming in as a university graduate, I would never have thought of being able to gain project management experience so early on, but I have been fortunate enough to co-project manage a pilot scheme to further support vulnerable customers. I feel my contribution is valued and I greatly appreciate the opportunities I’ve already encountered.
As for the future, I really don’t know where my career will lead me, but it’s exciting to think of the future. Suncorp has changed my perspective on what the workforce looks like for graduates right out of university, and I am genuinely looking forward to all the learning opportunities that I am yet to be exposed to.
