From the moment I joined, I experienced firsthand how much Suncorp Group values its culture, customers, and people. The Graduate Program's opportunity to rotate into different areas of the business was what initially attracted me to the Program. It offered the flexibility I was seeking after completing my marketing and information systems degrees. 

I'm grateful for the opportunities the program provided, allowing me to explore where I best fit and gain a diverse range of experiences across the insurance industry. 

It was enriching to work in the Customer Advocacy space, where my team championed the voice of the customer, focused on delivering fair and ethical outcomes. That included being heavily involved in projects centered around Customer Vulnerability, which in turn increased engagement and understanding of this important aspect among my fellow Suncorp New Zealand employees.

The biggest thing that stands out for me is the trust Suncorp places in its graduates and how we are given the opportunity to work on real projects. The program has changed my perspective on what the workforce looks like for graduates right out of university.

I felt valued and appreciated, and this support allowed me to co-project manage a pilot scheme, providing further support to vulnerable customers. It was incredible to gain project management experience so early in my career. 

Beyond the Graduate Program 

Since completing the graduate program in late 2021, my journey within Suncorp has been nothing short of exhilarating. I've had the privilege of exploring three distinct roles within the company, each contributing to my personal growth and understanding of the insurance industry. 

Beginning in the Asteron Life team, I immersed myself in the intricate world of life insurance. It laid the foundation for my knowledge and allowed me to earn my New Zealand Certificate in Financial Services (Level 5 - Life, Disability, and Health Insurance).  

Transitioning to the Insights & Engagement team expanded my perspective, giving me deeper insights into our customers and the broker market, while also entrusting me with exciting marketing initiatives.

Most recently, I was promoted to a Senior Adviser role in the Brand and Marketing team, focusing on events and activation. This achievement has become the pinnacle of my career so far, proving that I am capable of achieving anything I set my mind to.
