Debit cards to help Suncorp customers during COVID-19

Suncorp’s Executive General Manager of Consumer Banking Chris Fleming said the bank is working with passbook customers to ensure they can access their money safely and simply by equipping them with debit cards.

“COVID-19 has changed the way Australians are paying for and accessing goods and services. We are here to make sure our customers can still do their banking, pay their bills and buy things safely,” Mr Fleming said.

“As an essential service, a large number of our stores and all of our contact centres are still open and operating during COVID-19.

“Our teams are ready to help customers who have traditionally used a passbook to get up and running with a debit card account, as well as discuss the different ways they can securely access their money and pay for goods and services.

“We believe there is no one-size-fits-all approach, so at Suncorp we are working with each of our customers to ensure the new way of banking works for them,” Mr Fleming said.

There are a number of ways customers can bank with Suncorp that doesn’t require them to go to a store:

Linking a passbook account to an account with a debit card

Online banking through suncorp.com.au

Phone banking through 13 11 25

The Suncorp App.

We have also made banking easier for our customers by:

Increasing the contactless payment limit on from $100 to $200 to limit physical contact with payment terminals

Changing the process to assist elderly and incapacitated customers with withdrawals

Updating our verbal identification process to protect the security of our customers calling our contact centres.
