Insurance

As an Insurance Graduate you will contribute to the resilience of businesses and society and provide peace of mind to our customers.

This role will give you the opportunity to work across a number of areas to build your understanding of this industry including product development and pricing, capital and reinsurance, claims management and operational delivery for insurance services. For example, you may manage claims against insurance policies received direct and from brokers, develop underwriting procedures, or work in teams responsible for pricing, capital and reinsurance.

Rotations: 4 x 6 month rotations

Graduate & Vacation (AUS)

Business

Our Banking and Wealth teams play a critical role in bringing customers to the marketplace and providing foundation solutions and services to meet their needs. Through a focus on disciplined portfolio management and balance sheet strength, B&W provides a stable earnings profile and strong shareholder return.

You will have the opportunity to develop skills in, and shape your career towards, areas as diverse as: Bank Strategy, Performance Management, Treasury, Capital Strategy, Deposits and Payments and Lending Product teams, and Portfolio Development. Whether analysing financial statements is your passion, or you prefer driving projects that make tangible impacts for customers, a graduate position in the bank is guaranteed to provide you the flexibility to take control of your career.

In a Business role, you will get exposure to:

​Extracting and analysing financial statements, cash flow forecasts and other complex financial reports
Developing banking deposit protocols, credit policies and credit practices
Product management, including ideation, performance management, marketing and execution
Processes, business decisions and the front-line staff who interact with our customers each day
Working on complex projects across teams. Recent graduates have worked on projects such as the New Payments Platform, the creation and roll-out of the Growth Saver account and Digital Wallets (Apple Pay, Google Pay), amongst others
Develop strong relationships with supporting teams, such as Legal, Finance and Risk.

Our Digital and Data Science roles sits within Technology, Data & Labs, which recognises that data analytics, digital enablement, innovation and business agility are central to driving growth and successfully competing in an environment where we know technology is a key source of differentiation.

Accounting/Finance

Our Finance team drives the financial outcomes for Suncorp through the provision of specialist finance and advice services. In partnership with CFO teams in Banking & Wealth, Insurance Australia and Insurance New Zealand, we deliver expertise and insight for Suncorp's functions, providing forward looking finance and advice that preserves and creates value for our organisation.

In an Accounting/Finance role you will have exposure to:

Preparing the Statutory Financial Statements and APRA returns
Maintaining the general ledger via reconciliations, journals and month end close activities
Preparing corporate and indirect tax returns and tax calculations
Supporting the production of management reports, budgets, forecasts and perform business partnering activities
Providing advice in relation to capital, investments, corporate affairs, strategy and projects.

For our Accounting roles you must qualify to complete either CPA or CA qualifications as part of the Graduate Program.

Graduate (AUS)

Human Resources

Our HR team at Suncorp undertakes a wide variety of activities. You may work in one of our specialist areas, working on a change management program or a project to enhance leaders’ effectiveness. You might work in our HR Advice and Services team advising on policy or legislative matters or helping to enhance our internal processes for optimum efficiency.

In a Human Resources role, you will have exposure to:

Our Customer Marketplace, where our Agribusiness and Business Banking roles sit, is dedicated to creating personal and memorable experiences for our customers. Customer Marketplace teams work across Suncorp to build a marketplace that brings together all the products and solutions a customer may need using our network of brands, channels and third-party partners. Our teams also know customer needs are different, so they engage with them in different ways –​ via mobile and online shopping, over the phone or in one of our stores.

In Agribusiness Banking and Business Banking roles you will have exposure to:

Providing input, drafting and assisting with deposit funding and credit proposals
Extracting and analysing financial statements, cash flow forecasts and other complex financial reports
Compliance with established banking deposit protocols, credit policies and prudent credit practices
Attending and participating in client interviews
Liaising with and developing relationships with intermediaries including Accountants and Solicitors.

Agribusiness Graduate rotations: 3 x 8 month rotations (relocation required)
Commercial Banking Graduate rotations: 4 x 6 months

The recruitment process for both our graduate program and vacation program is identical. The four assessment stages will allow you to express who you are and why you are interested in joining the Suncorp. As a guide, our process typically includes:

What eligibility criteria do I need to meet?


For the Graduate Program you will need to meet the following eligibility criteria before applying:

  • Australian or New Zealand Citizen or Australian or New Zealand Permanent Resident
  • Studying or have studied at an Australian university (or a NZ university for NZ-based roles)
  • Completed a minimum of undergraduate level study within the last two years, or will complete a minimum of undergraduate level study prior to the program commencing
  • Minimum ‘pass’ grade.

For the Vacation Program you'll need to meet the following eligibility criteria before applying:

  • Australian or New Zealand Citizen or Australian or New Zealand Permanent Resident
  • Studying or have studied at an Australian university (or a NZ university for NZ-based roles)
  • Completed a minimum of 24 months undergraduate level study
  • Minimum ‘pass’ grade

Things to do before you apply


Here’s a quick checklist of some things you should do before you apply: 

  • Please review the information about the roles on offer and be clear about which role you are applying for (you may give a second preference in your application form, but your first preference will be shortlisted first). 
  • Have an electronic copy of your current resume and your academic results to date (two separate documents). You will be asked to upload these as part of the application form. 
  • There is no selection criteria as part of your application, however, a cover letter introducing yourself is highly recommended. 
  • If you are ineligible you will receive an email notification advising of your ineligibility. 
  • Please use an email address that you check regularly and remember to check your junk mail folder once you’ve applied. 
  • It’s a good idea to familiarise yourself with the roles before you commence your application. You can also check out our different business areas to get a feel for our structure and the different responsibilities of each area.
